A Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) is an independent organization that certifies products for the U.S. market. NRTLs are recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under Federal Code 29 CFR 1910.7 for products to be used in United States workplaces.

Electrical products sold or imported in Canada must be certified as compliant with technical requirements established in the Canadian Electric Code. Manufacturers and importers may work with any certification body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to obtain certification that their products comply.
